My dog humps porcealin dolls, but only ones with frilly dresses or long hair and ribbons, why does he do this?

My Male chihuahua who has not been fixed humps my moms doll collection when she arranges them on the bottom shelf, then after he humps one for a good length of time, he’ll sit there and guard it, but will let you take it away if you try. He got his lil willy caught in some ribbon one time. Should I take the dolls away?

Hi Layfettel, Most of these answers are good but my opinion is different. I think it is a dominance issue. I have 3 Chinese Cresteds, all males and fixed. My takeoff on this is that they are pack animals and do have a social order. All 3 are given lots of attention including playtime and long walks. They also have 2 baskets filled with toys. My Alpha male a few times a week will look in the toy box for his special “baby” which is closest to his size. He will take this stuffed rabbit in his mouth and run past the family whining and crying and take it over to the sofa or his bed and hump it for a couple of minutes. It is almost a ritual of his. My suggestion is that you put Mom’s dolls out of reach and get him a “baby” of his own so that he can now be the Alpha of his pack and dominate one of his own.
